As a mother and a woman, I’m constantly striving to be present, to be patient, to be myself and often failing, or at least feeling like I am. There are moments of joy, fatigue, apathy, and rebellion that move through me in the space of minutes, and these paintings became a way of holding all of that at once.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThe brighter passages of colour represent those fleeting instants where I feel like I might have it together where something clicks, however briefly, and I catch a glimpse of calm or competence. Around them, the muddier tones speak to the daily mess and movement of trying, again and again, to do my best.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThis series revealed itself only towards the end of its making.
