Small Wins
This body of work began without a clear intention, only a desire to paint through the noise and challenges of everyday life. As a mother and a woman, I’m constantly striving to be present, to be patient, to be myself and often failing, or at least feeling like I am. There are moments of joy, fatigue, apathy, and rebellion that move through me in the space of minutes, and these paintings became a way of holding all of that at once.
The brighter passages of colour represent those fleeting instants where I feel like I might have it together where something clicks, however briefly, and I catch a glimpse of calm or competence. Around them, the muddier tones speak to the daily mess and movement of trying, again and again, to do my best.
This series revealed itself only towards the end of its making. It feels like the beginning of a larger conversation one about effort, surrender, and the quiet persistence of showing up to both the work and the life that shapes it.
