Entrapment is an original painting created in December 2023. The artwork is the beginning of a new series, exposing the pains and struggles of being a woman and mother. In late 2022, I became a mum for the first time and the experience was earth-shatteringly powerful. I felt depressed by routine, left scratching away from the inside out. I longed for freedom to paint, to shower, to run away to a mountain and be alone. It is the contract between these intense feelings and the abundance of love I find most perplexing and challenging about this chapter of my life.
